Turncoat is a four-piece pop punk / alternative band from Westchester, NY. Formed in 2006 as a three-piece ensemble, Turncoat has undergone constant evolution over the past three years. Since the addition of a second guitar in late 2008, turncoat has come to realize their musical potential, reaching a balance of musical intricacy and accessibility that has been relentlessly winning over fans, and catching the attention of big names throughout the industry. Turncoat isn’t long hair and skinny jeans; they’re four boys that love and live music. Technically proficient jazz musicians, Turncoat draws from a range of influences and experiences ranging from contemporary punk rock to drum and bugle corps, to Bach. Aiming to bridge genres, Turncoat is always reinventing their musical process, constantly striving for progression, refusing to be labeled or label themselves. Veterans of venues such as The Crazy Donkey (Long Island), The Knitting Factory (NYC), The Stone Pony (NJ), The Loft (NY), and the Crocodile Rock Café (PA) Turncoat is becoming well established and recognized throughout the Mid Atlantic underground music scene. Within three months of changing their lineup in September of 2008, Turncoat began work on their 7 track EP “Save the Bombardier.” Upon completion, Turncoat hit the road relentlessly, playing any and all shows and building fan bases throughout the Northeast. The Fall of 2009 brought Craig O’Malley into the band through mutual friendship and the desire to just make music. Craig’s role as Guitar / Bass player was solidified by the end of the Fall and once again, Turncoat saw a flood of new musical ideas and possibilities. Turncoat looks forward to continuing their breakout with a New England / Mid Atlantic tour in the months to come and the release of a full-length album by the end of the summer. The boys’ passion for what they do is apparent from the moment they step on stage. With no glitz, glamour, distraction, or further ado, Turncoat goes to work. With near album quality sound, and the level of energy and enthusiasm that only this group of kids could produce and sustain, Turncoat does all they can to have a good time, and the audience follows suit. What you see is what you get. Turncoat is an entirely self made band that has been building themselves from the ground up since 2006. They are considered as one of the premier acts in lower New York, but they aren’t done yet. Turncoat aims to be the change that they want to see in the music industry and is always willing to rock your face off.
