Formed in 93' by Thom Moran and Jon Larr Hunt, Tyrantz started out playing small clubs and was eventuality picked up by EmGee Industries to provide management and direction for the band. The original line up included Thom Moran - Vocals/Bass, Carlos Santos - Vocals/Guitars, James Atkinson - Guitars, Larr Hunt - Drums. The group gained a reputation for their energetic performances and landed a spot on a Rodell Records (An industry icon) compilation Disc featuring Adam Rodell‘s top twenty up and coming acts in the country. When asked to comment on Tyrantz, Adam Rodell of Rodell Records called Tyrantz the "Hottest band in the Southwest" and went on to say, "Tyrantz works their crossover appeal to attract fans...." He continues, "Powerful, intelligent and unconventional, the spitfire rock of Tyrantz is making them the kings of the desert." Mr. Rodell finished by saying, "Tyrantz is beginning a reign of power and success in the music world". The first release was the self titled CD 'Tyrantz' which was released in the regional southwest. After endless shows including radio appearances in Los Angeles the group disbanded and the ex-members went on to pursue different projects until Moran started to again record new material under the name Tyrantz in 2010. Hunt and Santos rejoined soon after and contributed on the second release, “Down n Dirty” which after many setbacks and delays is scheduled to be out late 2014. With two early releases, “Bring It (You Know I’m Right)” and “Final Warning”, going to number 2 and 3 respectively on Soundclick.com and staying in the Top 20 for more than two months, it seems it may be have been worth the wait. Trimmed down to a three piece power trio, with Santos handling all guitar duties with his beloved Marshall JCM800 stacks and Jackson guitars, the band continues to play their original brand of music to everyone they can and anyone that will listen. Already well into working on their third release, which has the working title “We Rule This Town” and also are planning a string of live shows (for which they are well known}, in early 2015 and late into 2016 in support of the release. In June 2017 Jason Markins was replaced with original drummer Larr Hunt.
