Vaudeville is an alternative rock three piece based in Newcastle. The band consists of Dan Runchel on vocals and bass, Jarrod McAuley on vocals and guitar and Mat Thomas on drums. Since forming in late 2007, Vaudeville has been an ever evolving musical unit. With relentless touring and good old fashioned team work, the band has done more than 100 shows, impressing some of Australia’s finest acts and gaining many faithful followers. Vaudeville had a great start to 2009, making a coveted appearance at the BIG DAY OUT sharing the bill with music legend NEIL YOUNG and other international acts such as the ARCTIC MONKEYS, THE PRODIGY, TV ON THE RADIO, THE TING TINGS and FANTOMAS. The boys were equally pleased to be playing with Australian bands such as COG, BIRDS OF TOKYO, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, MAMMAL and SPARKADIA, all of which they have previously supported on various shows around the country. Late 2008 Vaudeville spent time in the studio recording their single “RUNNING ON EMPTY” which received airplay on JJJ’s “2009 with Richard Kingsmill” program plus regular play on local stations such as Sydney’s “FBI radio”. After a string of 2009 supports with the likes of DUKES OF WINDSOR, KRAM, BRITISH INDIA, MAMMAL and BERTIE BLACKMAN, Vaudeville topped off the year by working with world renowned producers Kalju Tonuma and Rick Will on there up and coming EP ‘City on the Brink’. This is by far Vaudeville’s finest work to date and has taken them in an exiting new musical direction.
