After Forming in 1991 as a four piece band, the members of VW let life happen for a while, but in 2007, Jason Howard, Collin Wallace & Wes Faulkner decided that life was missing a great element, The Velvet Water element. With a new focus on a string band setup, the group also has a new outlook. They have added Snook Hansel's tremendous mandolin to the lineup in the absence of founding member Ben Miller who has moved away. Velvet Water is a group of extraordinary musicians that enjoy performing. There is a great spirit of friendship and appreciation at VW shows and the music feeds off of that. You will hear Velvet Water cover songs from early traditional bluegrass as well as freeform inspired music from the Grateful Dead and other widely appreciated jam bands. Velvet Water has performed at major festivals as well as regional concerts and events. Velvet Water rides again,, and they are looking to solidify a fan base everywhere they go.
