Buffalo, NY by way of Nashville. Wes Walters (Wesley Layton Walters) is one gutsy and refreshing songwriter with a strong and soulful, yet sweetly touching voice. “Live, he is a captivating singer and heart-punching as a songwriter.” His songs and inspiration come from “crazy people” as he says. (a group in which includes himself) He’s influenced by the likes of Glen Hansard, Jon Foreman, Bruce Springsteen, Morissey, Counting Crows, and Chris Cornell. Wes is a SESAC affiliated writer who has been singing since age 3. He has performed in everything from choirs, to opera, to national touring rock bands for years. His debut album "Rebel of a Doubt Scene" was released in October 2008 at the Basement in Nashville right before his move to Buffalo, NY. This album combined the talents of former band mates from his rock band, The Throws. Producer and Guitar player, John Potts built the album along with Mike Carr at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, TN. Truly a release for music lovers and songwriters everywhere, Rebel of a Doubt Scene has a beautifully refreshing perspectives on lyrics and melody while offering rock, folk, as well as a piano ballad in the title soundtrack. (Available on I-tunes) Walters writes in many different genres from folk, to rock, to country, to inspirational. As of August 2012, Wes is back in the studio working on his next release which really shows his progression into a singer/songwriter style more his own and seeing him living comfortably in a bluesy folk-rock category for sure. You can see him in the Buffalo area and around Western New York with his band, The Carolina Gentlemen at various events and venues. You can also find him always, always writing something new.
