What Once Was is a five piece metal band based out of California.The band originally formed in 2008 under the name "Call Me Bronco "when drummer Cory Etter and guitarist Andee McMahon met in the Marine Corp and found that they not only shared a love for their country but for writing and performing heavy metal as well. They soon sought out and found other like-minded musicians, the group was unfortunately short lived when 3/5 members were deployed across the world with the Corp. Fast Forward to 2010 Andee is performing with the Alt.Rock/Pop punk group "Darling Youre Stunning" where he met Chris Vargas and they discover their mutual love for the heavier side of music and decided to restart "Call Me Bronco" once again with Cory Etter at the drums.With the addition of Andees long time friend and bass player Zeus Creighton the band was almost complete. They then began writing in preparation for a vocalist,during the writing the process they discovered that while still heavy metal the music was in a slightly more hardcore direction than "Call Me Bronco" after much discussion the band decided to change their name to "What Once Was" feeling that it was much more fitting for the music.With the recent addition of Steve Hoon, ex vocalist to Syneka, on vocals "What Once Was" is now complete and will be hitting the studio hard for the remainder of this year and will be releasing a EP in the not to distant future.
