YLD is a band based out of the Kansas City Area. They were originally called the Frequent Z's. The band played clubs and concerts throughout the KC metro area and other parts of the Midwest and West in the 1980's. YLD was one of most popular Metal/Hard Rock bands in KC in the late 1980's and recieved awards locally for their special live performances. In 1988, they moved to Los Angeles, California, and made their mark there. In 1989, they released their album/cd "Window Shopping in Fool's Paradise" on the Absolute Records Label. Their music got airplay and they especially were popular in Europe and in their hometown of Kansas City. Kevin Mellenbruch, lead vocalist and writer, and Jim Bengtson, lead guitartist, vocals, and writer, were the main creative force behind YLD. Other members of the band, circa 1990, were Jimmy Lee Boggs, bass, keyboards, and backing vocals, and Tim King, drummer. The band continued to play into the early 1990's and moved back to their Midwest base. The musicians/members of YLD continue to work on other projects. Jim Bengtson's band Rock Daddy is currently playing concerts in the Kansas City area. Kevin Mellenbruch is still creating and writing original music. Jimmy Lee Boggs, was last seen playing the loungue circuit in Arizona, as a one man band. The rumor is that YLD is working on a new release for 2010.
