Young Runaways are a special talent who will carve their orchestral infused rock and pop songs into your brain and leave them there forever. It's music that will get people talking, made by a six-piece who utilise violin, trumpet, trombone and keys blended with electric guitar, drums and bass to striking effect producing rock and roll one moment and elegant chamber pop the next. You might not have heard of them yet – unless you've been tapped into the cinematic, soulful end of indie rock or if you were a regular around Wolverhampton's many pubs and venues. The band, comprising a set of siblings and friends from the West Midlands, is fronted by Matt Pinfield and Harriet J Woodcock whose vocal harmonies and lyrical intimacy is rendered all the more powerful by their distinctive interplay. The songwriting comes from a broad range of influences, from James Taylor and Fleetwood Mac to The Wonder Stuff and Arcade Fire. 'Orchestral Alt - Pop' - Brum Notes magazine 'Mick Jagger bodyslamming the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' - Counteract Magazine Last year the band released their self produced debut album The Boy & The Beartrap, celebrating with sold out shows around the Midlands as well as further afield. Mastered by Frank Arkwright (Arcade Fire, The Smiths) the record was made at the band's own studio, recorded sporadically between headline shows and support slots that included A Genuine Freakshow, Miles Hunt and Stornoway among others. The band have been featured on local and national radio, including an introducing slot on New York's RXP 101.9 and have played Glastonbury Festival. Young Runaway's latest EP, There Is A World Outside, can be heard online ahead of its full release on Commercially Inviable Records in April 2011. Again self produced, it was mastered by Alan Douches (Beirut, Sufjan Stevens, My Morning Jacket) of West West Side Music in New York. www.myspace.com/youngrunaways youngrunaways.bandcamp.com
