Lyrics

In My Soul Written and Performed by J.R. Ancira I was born in a small town on the Gulf of Mexico You can call it a destination, It’s a place where no where to go Don’t get me wrong there a place that Id rather be Singing my songs up in Nashville Tennessee I’m trying to be nobody, but I was born to make a stand At heart I’m just a good ole country boy With the blood of a Mexican But I was raised on ol Haggard and Jones Now I’m all grown up and Hank Jr down to the bones. (Chorus) So People just look deeper than the skin You can’t hide the truth when its coming from deep within And to all of those who really need to know Country not something you learn its born in your soul Well if you don’t understand me It must be your point of view You see its my way of life ya’ll Its what I love to do So don’t think I’m headed down a lonely road Cause I know some day it will lead me to music row (Chorus) I left that town where I was born back in 89 And I chased my dreams breaking guitar strings And followed them neon signs From the ones that left their mark for all to see Well I carry it with pride inside of me (Chorus) (Tag) Country is not something I learned, it’s in my soul
