Lyrics
The King and Queen of Nothing Were standing in the rain Chatting on and on about The scope of their domain. "It is, of course," the Queen began, "Less simple to contain Than prism light or sip-sip flight An aura, nymph or Jain." "Usefulness and beauty!" Declared his Nothingness, Therein lie Earthly paradise And every realm of bliss." Emerging from their quaint debate As from a chrysalis, Two gentle sighs, their soft replies, Dissolved to emptiness. Then all at once they realized That they were not alone. The sky had cleared and evening stars' Slow pinwheel turning shone. Through fog he crickets' rhythmic song And the full moon on her throne Brought summer night and shimmering light Like a crown of precious stone. And there they stood, The King and Queen, Two Earthly human towers And spread their arms so Earth could lie Enclosed within their bowers. "We have no claim," the King announced, "And no commanding powers. And all of this, and none of this, And all of this is ours."
