Elizabeth England is a singer/songwriter from Riverside, California. With her beginnings in acting (particularly musical theatre and Shakespeare), Elizabeth graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. During her last semester at USC, her dreams took a turn--from stage acting to singing and songwriting. While her vocal training and repertoire was formerly composed of old standards and musical theatre numbers, Elizabeth has discovered her "country twang," which greatly influences her writing. Elizabeth is most often praised for the depth of her lyrics, and for her unique and powerful voice, once described as "an angel's trumpet." MY STORY: Ever since I was little girl, I wanted one thing--a family. I dreamed about what it would be like to meet the man that would become my husband. I would have given up everything short of my faith for that one dream. At the age of 21, that dream was morphing into a reality. Everything was perfect, even better than what I imagined (so I thought). Four months before the wedding, my fiance backed out of his proposal. I waited another four months before I finally terminated the "relationship." All of my present hopes were shattered. I felt lost, unsure of what direction I was now headed in my life. My emotions we so high that I considered ending my life. Amidst the turmoil I was in, I found hope--hope in the Lord and the great plans and future that he lay before me. Music is at the center of that future. I found songwriting to be such a cathartic outlet, and poured all of my emotion into it. I no longer felt bound to the idea of marriage, nor was my identity wrapped up in someone else. I became passionate about who I was becoming as an individual. Through the roller-coaster ride of the last couple of years, I have discovered my voice as a writer and as a singer. I know that there are more ups and downs to come, more twists and loops on the track ahead, but because of music, I now see each bend, each climax and drop, as a source of creativity--a story from which others can find inspiration and hope.
