The Gooneez &The Fratelleez Astoria by Real Chill Music
The Gooneez & The Fratelleez teamed up to bring us a sick new free album called Astoria. They have a really unique sound to both their beats and vocal. With the Fratelleez backing the sound here, there's a lot of rock sound on this album. If you haven't checked out some of their earlier stuff that we posted off their other mixtape, definitely take a listen to Blow Up and Listen Up. It's hard not to like all the songs on Astoria but, as usual, we picked out a few of our favorites to help you out (note Mac Miller is featured in the track Weed N' Rhymin'). Majazlendie to perform Saturday by Jaclyn Randall, Assistant Editor
BLYTHE - Local band Majazlendie will perform at Patty's Bar & Grill, 9359 E. Hobsonway, on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m., in an effort to raise funds to record their, as of yet, untitled album. The band will entertain the audience, which is open to all ages, with original music made possible by frontman Aaron Lawson, who lends his vocals and guitar playing talent and is backed by Jake Bowman on bass and vocal accompaniment and Amy Raborn setting the mood on drums. The group, which has been playing together for four years come November, is placed in the punk/rock genre as they "serve tasty punk rock." But Lawson says that they offer a variety of music. Pronounced ma•jaz•len•die (dee), Majazlendie is in fact derived from words magic, jazz, metal and indie. They wanted a name that wasn't already taken and that represented eclectic sound and taste. Majazlendie has been performing shows dutifully for the past several months throughout Arizona and California hoping to raise enough money so they will be able to cover the high costs associated with recording and distributing an album. They are pushing for a 2011 release. The trio will headline the show that doubles as a costume party extravaganza and will feature other local bands Clepto Kids and Drop Audio. Spots are still open for bands who would like to come out and showcase their skills as well. Cover charge for the event is $4 for those who dare to wear a costume and $6 for those without. The fund-raising concert is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening 30 minutes before the show.
