Koppur Thief is a performance art group coupled with live music played by the band. Koppur Thief is often lumped in with “Industrial Metal”; however they have developed their own unique sound that uses elements from pop, hard beat dance, electronica, funk groove and rock blended with both male and female vocals. The majority of songs are sung by Poisin IV who also writes the majority of the lyrics. Her vocals with each breath take you from one scene to another with the added male vocals performed by Crash Hottman and Rezwok Kowzer.
The name Koppur Thief although quite enigmatic has a broad range of meanings of which most are determined by fan interpretation. It has been identified with copper deficiency illness, copper theft and at times is thought to mean cop or thief. The band hopes that the name will inspire fans to make it their own and decide for themselves as it fits their lives.
Koppur Thief incorporates the circus style freak show, poi dancing, fire play, water meteors, cyber punk and gothic themes as well as a stage show with its own interpretive style that tells a story using the lyrics as the dialogue for characters. The performance art choreography is done by Votre Jai Jolie a long time veteran of the burlesque scene and other theatrical productions using her vast talents in baton, water meteors and fire play.
The majority of the songs are written and composed by Rezwok Kowzer, bass player and Johnny Macho, guitarist. Together they write and compose the keyboards, original drum composition, samples and arrangements. Koppur Thief is a D.I.Y. band that uses each member to their fullest as needed for marketing, design and promotions. Johnny Macho has been the acting producer for Koppur Thief since its conception in the summer of 2009. There is always a revolving door on performance artists and percussionist. Kitty Stixxx is the live percussionist and heavy grinder of the band with various musicians that write and play drums both in studio and live.
In the short period of time, Koppur Thief has already boasted over 22,000 fans world wide and over 194060 profile views on their Myspace profile alone. This does not consider FaceBook and the Koppur Thief official site, new in the spring of 2010. Along with a large theatrical stage show and live music Koppur Thief has worked with various models from the USA, Germany and Mexico who promote Koppur Thief individually in their countries of origin.
