Leanne St John: Songwriter of the Week by www.zoxsy.com Congratulations to Leanne St John, our Singer, Songwriter of the week. You can listen to Leanne's music if you click on the link below.
Leanne St John has enjoyed performing in front a live audience from an early age. After hundreds of public performances, at the age of 18 she took the next step in building a career as a country music artist by cutting a professional demo in OmniSound Studios in Nashville. The demo included four songs written by top country songwriter Ken Harrell. Leanne is known not only for her strong vocal ability, but also with her ability to connect with her audience through her music. Leanne owns and manages her own vocal studio and has coached several students who are signed with major labels. Leanne has become involved in songwriting and is continuing to develop her own portfolio of new songs.
Born in California, Leanne’s family heritage was shaped by an earlier time when the family raised cherries and apricots on their orchards. Country music was played around the family home since she was born. At age 10, Leanne entered her first of many state California talent competitions. For the next few years, she continued to compete in regional and statewide competitions where she consistently dominated lead female categories and won Grand Champion awards every year. Through her teen years she performed over 60 shows each summer at the local county fair.
By the age of 14, Leanne was one of five performers chosen to sing the National Anthem at a network televised NHL Anaheim Mighty Ducks and San Jose Sharks Hockey Game. She was chosen from over 500 contestants of all ages. At age 16 she was the lead vocalist with her high school swing band, which made appearances throughout California. When Leanne turned 17, she won the honor of 3rd runner up in the Miss California State Competition.
Leanne isn’t afraid of hard work and competition as she has performed over one hundred songs in over thirty competitions throughout her professional career. To perfect her skills, she has taken vocal training in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Nashville. For 10 years, Leanne has been involved with her own students, as a vocal instructor and choreographer at Elite Studios West in San Diego and Los Angeles. Being solely a vocalist for so many years, Leanne picked up a guitar three years ago, started songwriting and hasn't looked back. It is evident to hear the influence of country music in her lyrics, yet her sound is purely original, taking on a vibe of indie, country, pop, and oldies. For the past year, Leanne has been writing all original songs and is in the works of producing a brand new EP. Leanne loves performing and looks forward to her future as a recording artist and songwriter with confidence. She is very excited about bringing her unique indie music sound and style to the industry in the hopes of keeping the pure message of music alive.
