Leon lyric is a hip hop artist, songwriter, producer, dancer, and entertainer. With his charisma, creativity and versatility, there isn’t a market that he can’t tap into; he is truly a talented individual that will always keep you guessing. With that said, there are truly no limits to his musical ability. His fresh new style, energetic sound, and catchy hooks contain the ingredients that definitely appeal to the masses. Early on, Mordecai Leon Washington was born June 11th 1984 in the city of Houston but raised in Austin where he resides today. While growing up in a family of eight, at the age of 6, it was a constant struggle for his family to get on their feet after his father left. While moving just about every six months from place to place he and his family did what they could for money to get by. He later found stability in competing in talent shows with his sisters for money, who were a singing group at the time. After winning many contests, he then decided that music was his calling because it kept him focused and out of trouble. It was during this time that he picked up on choreography, beat making, and songwriting at a young age. With a history as a dance performer and beat maker, Leon decided to take his talent to the next level and began rapping at the age of 16 which came natural to him due to the fact that he was already songwriting. Vowing to become one of the greats someday, his influences included Ludacris, Nelly, and Outkast; all creative in their art, diverse and larger then life. Mostly, sought out for his talents in music, his accomplishments go beyond his musical ability. With a life long history of being an honor student, a star in theater, class favorite and a force in basketball through out Jr. High and High School, his next step was to go to college. Promising himself to finish school first, he graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Radio/Television. It was during this time that he perfected his craft as an entertainer while at the same time educated himself on the business of music. After years of studio experience and doing shows while in school, Leon caught the attention of Tomar and Salih of Carnival beats, the platinum production team known for producing such hits as “Still tippin” and “Sittin Sidewayz”. After years of working with them, the chemistry was like magic and Carnival beats became like a second family to him. Today, Leon continues to work with Carnival beats and many other up and coming producers all across Texas in efforts to complete his first project. The anticipation builds as he is looking to drop is first single. The music industry has been long overdue for an artist like Leon Lyric. With a talent, attitude and work ethic like his he will constantly push his talent to the next level. At the age of 24 he is destined to take the world by storm in his quest for the ultimate success.
