nikTex is a collaborative project between Nikole Texidor and Manjinder Benning. Recording started in May 2009 as a Folk Jazz solo project and turned into an explosive eclectic mix of Indian and other worldly flavours when producer and instrumentalist Manjinder Benning joined the project in August 2009.
Her second album titled "The Power of Yang" is inspired by all the male figures in her life that influenced this album in any shape or form.
It's a compilation of songs written between 2005 and 2009. Along with sweetly crafted melodies, haunting harmonies and heavy percussion and electronics, this album is worth more then your average weekly grocery bill.
Nikole Texidor was heavily influenced by her father - a prominent Jazz Percussionist who primarily played with Jazz Icon Rahsaan Roland Kirk in the '60s and '70s. Together they shared the stage with Artists such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Led Zepplin, Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix to name a few. Roland Kirk passed away in 1977 and J.Habao Texidor in 2007.
