RAVA is an alternative rock band from Iasi, Romania. Its name is an acronym, which means “Revenio Ad Veritatem Aeternam” (Return to the Eternal Truth)
RAVA’s sound can best be described as a continuous effort towards originality. Each song is a bit different, each song is a bit experimental. One could think that the band tries to avoid an etiquette, remaining, at the same time, in the giant musical field which most people envision as being alternative rock. Soft and deep vocals often contrast with thunderous drum beats and furious guitar riffs. Fast and catchy harmonies gracefully complement mellow and dark musical creations. All these are masterfully completed by a variety of lyrical themes, centered on human feelings and ranging from living the experience of love and the search for a goal in life to struggling with hypocrisy and ignorance
Formed in 2006, the band gained national recognition in 2006-2007, when it won the third prize at the “Gaudeamus” Music Festival in Brasov. This award led to the recording of a short demo, composed of two songs, in March 2007. One of these songs was selected to represent the band on the second issue of the “Manifest Yourself” compilation, a project initiated by “Sunete” magazine
Following a hiatus generated by changes in the original lineup, RAVA made its return on the Romanian rock scene in the autumn of 2007. This return marked a different musical approach, the band orienting itself towards a wider array of influences
2008 also exposed RAVA to wider audiences. This national attention was possible due to the help of radio stations such as Radio Guerilla, Radio VoxT, Radio CityFM and television channels, such as Iasi TV Life, TVR Iasi and TeleM. In August 2008, RAVA won the awards for “Best Rock Song”, “Best Rock Vocals” and “Best Rock Band” at the first edition of the “Local Bands’” Festival, held in Targu Mures
Currently, the band is putting the finishing touches on their first official release, with hopes of getting it out in June 2009
The journey goes on. Stay tuned for updates!
