Brandon: I was in a long term relationship, and my gf at the time received full scholarships to a couple Universities a couple Cal-states and 2 out of state, she chose to go out of state which the tension and decision is about in the song. As far as the "lifestyle" part. I was getting well known for being the singer in a band (which was my dream, and still is) so i felt like [my dream] was coming true.
