This was a therapy song. I experienced a death that really took a toll on me. I was in turmoil in my mind that I could have kept it from happening. Which now I see that was not true. I had given up on everything. I was told not to stop writing, but to write through it, like I was writing a diary. That's what I did, and had a co-writer to put an outsider's view on it. Hadn't planned for it to be a song, until later on, but now I can listen to it without crying.
