Dead Trees Standing

Description

Millions of valuable dead trees are going to waste in our National Forests due to unsound Federal non-management laws. Removal of dead/beetle-killed trees eliminates a major source of CO2 emissions. Also, when trees are too dense or dead from beetle kill, then healthy trees will burn in a forest fire, causing a super-heated condition that sterilizes the soil/causes the nutrients/soil organic matter to be lost. This destroys the cycle of regrowth for decades.

Dead Trees Standing – James Morris Pearson – Copyright 2010 From the mountain we look down, seeing dead trees all around. Some are standing in the wind, some are lying on the ground. Mother Nature's kiss of death was the beetle in her breath, …the fire and flame. We go crashing to the floor, our roots hold no more, we lay there for decades cuz it's dry. We wait for the wind that will bring the fire again, and we hope you will hear our cry We're dead trees standing, take us away We'll bring you pain if we remain too many days We're dead trees standing, don’t make us stay, If you do we’ll be the fuel that feeds the flame We're dead trees standing How can you stop our disease, if you cannot touch the trees, how could this be the plan? Who wrote the laws and made the rules that tie your hands and make you fools, …it's hard to understand? So you kill living trees that are green and alive, passing by the ones who already died. Killing living trees, still moist inside passing by the ones already dry. We're dead trees standing, take us away We'll bring you pain if we remain too many days We're dead trees standing, don’t make us stay, If you do we’ll be the fuel that feeds the flame We're dead trees standing Take us while you can, its Mother Nature’s plan, Don’t let us all become the flame This is our greatest fear, if you just leave us here …we will have died…in vain. From the mountain looking down, see the dead trees all around, Mother Nature’s kiss of death was the beetle in her breath One word we hope you will say before they take your voice away…Reclaim.
