PlayFor Patrick

by Melissa Cox

"For Patrick" is a commentary about religious discrimination in America. Sgt. Patrick Stewart, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, was denied his basic rights when the V.A. refused to engrave the Pentacle, the sign of the Goddess of Love and of Stewart's faith Wicca, on his headstone in Arlington National Cemetery. His widow Roberta sued the V.A. and won. The Pentacle was placed on Patrick's gravestone and on the stones of other fallen soldiers denied the same right.

I dig the production, effects and especially the phaser, gives almost a droning quality which reflects an upset that just stays with you. Nice way of conveying the unending fury of injustice.

Honestly, I like the song and some of the effected vocals are amazing, however I would suggest shortening the length, and working on a little more dynamic peak towards the middle. On the whole though, a solid song.

The mix of styles in intro..with the drums and pipe you make it sound almost Irish or folkish...and then your lyric with effected vocal and full band brings it into the modern realm

you get this alot...but If you ever need someone to compare your vox too...Pat Benatar might be a good reference point...that said.. you sound orginal and got your own thing going

Dig the honest sentiment in the vocal.
