Description

I wrote this song around the time of Hurricane Katrina. The openness of my boys' hearts and their concern for those affected inspired me to write this song. It speaks to the ability we have within to lift each other in times of need.

Lyrics

HAND OF A STRANGER Do you ever turn on the evening news And wonder what this world is coming to And why isn't someone doing more than they say And why can't someone else just get out of the way Well you might try, you might try To touch the hand of a stranger down on his luck And use the arms god gave you and try to help him up Lift your eyes above the mirror you've been looking in You might find heaven here again Does it ever keep you up at night Wondering if all this wrong will ever be made right So many voices trying to break through Makes it hard to hear the one inside of you Well you might try, You might try To touch the hand of a stranger down on his luck And use the arms god gave you and try to help him up Lift your eyes above the mirror you've been looking in You might find heaven here again Well we say we're all so busy, but I think we're all so lost We're running 'round in circles no matter what the cost You see it's all a grand illusion, money you can't spend And what's it really gonna say about us in the end But give your hand to a stranger down on his luck And use the arms god gave you and try to help him up Lift your eyes above the mirror you've been looking in You just might find heaven here again You might find heaven You might find heaven here You might find, you might find heaven here again You might find heaven Oh in the arms, in the arms In the arms of a stranger
