I wrote this song after my live-in girlfriend ended our relationship to enter an arranged marriage. We lived together for about a month after she agreed to the marriage. During this time, I was quite angry that she had decided to do this, but as that month went on, I realized that she did still love me, but something about her upbringing, culturally, kept her from staying with me, even though she wanted to. Oddly enough, I came to terms with the whole situation when I discovered this.
