Description

Painterhood Valley is a rural area in Kansas that has three artesian wells. My youngest daughter asked me how the water just keeps flowing the way that it does. My answer to her was, "It's magic water!" After that conversation I began to remember the "magic" of my childhood growing up in Busby Kansas the community located in the Painterhood Valley.

Lyrics

You can lay my bones in the Painterhood Valley Near Busby Kansas when I pass away It's but a short step between there and Glory It stooped so close I saw it one day Iris grow late here in the springtime Like an acre of Heaven she took care of The lady is gone now to be with her maker I'll follow shortly and meet her above And the secret I know is the waters are magic That flow from the wells down the Painterhood ridge My daddy was born here he drank from the waters Heard the whisper of angels on the Hitchin Creek bridge My daddy he taught me to break the wild horses Sometime right after I learned to walk I don't have a memory without a saddle I got my first one before I could talk The papers all say this place is a ghost town A few scattered houses one there and one here If you slow down you'll find the spirits still linger And the ghosts that surround you are nothing to fear And the secret I hold is that the waters are magic That flow from the wells down the Painterhood ridge You know I grew up here and drank from the waters Heard the whisper of Angels on the Hitchin Creek bridge
