Leaving Eden

Album: Leaving Eden
By:
Eden Parker

Duration

4:42

Description

This song was written after a strange dream. I was walking through the garden of Eden, and met Adam and Eve. Their story in my dream, however, was not the one we were told as children. Adam and Eve were trapped in the garden, and knew that the only way out was to eat the fruit. It was a conscious choice to fall from so called grace. The decision to leave behind a theoretical paradise, and take the risk that something better was waiting on the other side.

Lyrics

Shed your rose colored glasses to see the garden bathed in light and in the beauty of the ashes, abandoned pretense taking flight It's not so perfect after all. Pick the fruit from the vine. (you know you want to...) Taste the nectar of forbidden wine. But know that we can't stay here anymore. We're leaving Eden tonight. Chase the serpents through the grass, our racing hearts the only sound And walking naked cross the broken glass. Paradise lost. Enlightenment found. It's not so perfect after all. *Chorus* All we wanted was a taste. (Sweet seduction tastes of all the days no laid to waste) Now we're falling out of grace/ (So watch this angel fall. I never asked to have it all.) It's not so perfect after all. And maybe angels choose to fall. Pick the fruit from the vine. (You know you want to... You know you've got to...) Taste the nectar of forbidden wine. But know that we can't stay here. We can't stay here anymore. We're leaving Eden tonight.
