Movin' On

Album: Movin' On
By:
Boyce Callahan

Duration

2:59

Description

Very personal song about a couple that I knew who divorced after 52 years of marriage. The entire situation must have really disturbed me because I awoke at around 2 a.m., picked up my guitar, wrote the entire song and have never made any significant changes to it. The song is written somewhat backwards in that it's an upbeat happy song about a very sad situation, and although the song is about breaking up, the wedding march actually plays in the background on the bridge.

Lyrics

Well I made my way to the living room from the 32nd floor in my mind; For the purpose of this argument it would seem that I was right on time; You been finding fault in me for a little more than fifty years; But if you would just be quiet for a minute maybe I could hear; 'Cause in times like these My resolve is weak and I don't think I can go on..... You were my lover; You were my only one; But years can't be recovered, And the rhythm of our love is gone So I guess I should be movin' on "You don't know what it's like to live with you," She mumbled from the corner of her mouth. "You don't notice all the things I do Just to make a home out of this house" So in times like these when my body is weak And I don't think you even care.... (Well I say.....) You were my lover; You were my only one; But tears can't be recovered, And the rhythm of our love is gone So I guess you should be movin' on I've tried to recall a good time or two; I've tried to remember a time when I loved you..... 'Cause you were my lover; You were my only one; But years can't be recovered, And the rhythm of our love is gone So I guess you should be movin' on.
