Description

It's hard to write about what you've written. To quote good ol' Walt Whitman: "Here the frailest leaves of me and yet my strongest lasting, Here I shade and hide my thoughts, I myself do not expose them, And yet they expose me more an all my other poems." Out of the songs performed and recorded during the 12 song project this is one of the most recently written. A little arguing, a little nostalgia, a little regret, a little growing up. All the while I craved mercy. ^ML

Lyrics

I was drifting like a soundtrack Hanging over ship wrecks Covering my best neck - A sudden rap upon my shoulder Left me feeling older A winter where it's colder You were screaming 1 - 2 I was shouting 3 - 4 (Beggars in night For something that we'd hoped for) Everybody knows the hard road (Some go tip-toed, staring, two eyes closed) Everybody walks the hard road (Golden nosed, wing woed, buffalo'd, castle-closed) Fingers felt a little mischievous I ended with my wings clipped A portrait of a man chipped - All the while I craved mercy Living the like the dirty Stain upon a cursing You were screaming 1 - 2 I was crying 3 - 4 (Beggers in night For something that we'd hoped for) Everybody knows the hard road (Some tow wagon loads, clinchin tight elbows) Everybody walks the hard road (Some blow flakes of snow climbin' down glacial slopes A cul-de-sac dreamer with a leftover smile from Kissing, wishing, daring, dreamin'. (You were a runaway child.) Everybody walks the hard road Everybody knows the hard road credits released 20 April 2012 Written by Marcus Lohrmann and Matt Cefalu All parts performed by members of Buckman Page Recorded, Mixed, Mastered by Stark Naked Records Written February 2012 Artwork by John Williamson
