Description
One of my best friends was attacked on the street in broad daylight in New York City. This is about her experience as she expressed it to me and my response as a friend.
Lyrics
i walk alone on my way home people all around i didn’t hear a sound you came from behind to take what’s mine i fell to the ground but my heart, it continues to pound someone yelled, “he left a mark on this girl. she’s gonna need some help. call for help. get some help for this girl.” stitches and surgery how did this come to be? this girl who used to walk alone is now afraid to leave her home sometimes i sit and wonder what you hoped to gain by stealing my joy and inflicting such pain you left a mark on me. and now it’s there for all the world to see. sometimes i just wanna be angry and give back just what you gave but what would that say and what difference would that make? so i think you left a mark of violence on me and i’ll take this mark and make it peace for all the world to see
