Informed by the stories collected and told to me by my friend James Leva of Rockbridge County, VA, and by the narratives found in The Pond Mountain Chronicles by Cooper and Cooper, this song chronicles life before, during, and after the Chestnut Blight of the early 1900’s in the Appalachian Mountains.
