Renegade Radio XERF

Traveling the southwest in the 50s and early 60s about your only driving companion at night was the AM radio. There were only 2 stations that you could receive reliably and one was the legendary XERF, out of Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. XERF was able to broadcast at 250,000 watts and was one of the famous or infamous 'Border Blaster' stations of that era. This station was the fabled starting place for Wolfman Jack. Songs such as 'Heard It On The X' by ZZ Top and others immortalized the legend.
