I remember writing the hook for Ladder and wondering if Hello Kelly could ever pull it off. Weeks later I showed the song to my family, who basically made me promise that I’d record it. It’s important to us that all of our songs have something to say, and I really like the theme of self-respect that we worked into “Ladder”.
