Well, the 3 of us that wrote this all felt like getting the hell out of Dodge one afternoon. I think we've all been there before, no matter if it's a big city or a small piss-ant sized town with only a stop sign or two. Thought of the title and the rest of it just kinda showed up on paper after about 30 minutes. Had a blast writing it with Megan Manly & Brian Beathard - two great writers, in my opinion.show more...
We've been in this town too long There ain't too much holding us here Just some bills and a random job My lease was up last year I can pack my bags and be gone Pick you up at your parents' at dawn & We'll race... straight for the sunset I've got that old white Ford gassed up I had the oil changed last night Nothing here to my name To make me keep up this simple life I've got her running are you ready to go? Jump on in honey. Close that door We're off & there ain't no turning back. I'm gonna run like hell I'm gonna keep my face to the wind Don't care to see this town again I'm gonna set my sights on the road And find out where it goes. I'm gonna jump and have no fear Of landing Somewhere Other Than Here I've held off nearly all my life from taking chances just like this. I don't care how far I go Or where this journey ends. Don't wanna sit around and wait Til we're too tied down and baby it's too late No, I've got bigger plans this time. I'm gonna run like hell I'm gonna keep my face to the wind Don't care to see this town again I'm gonna set my sights on the road And find out where it goes. I'm gonna jump and have no fear Of landing Somewhere Other Than Here
