Lyrics
Late last night the heat was rising off the street in relentless waves. I don't find that I have much left when I go back to the well. I caught a 103 downtown, basements sounds, Village haze. I'm in a place where I got no more stories left to tell. It's chastening to know that we have bitter seed in our hands and eyes. The fever breaks and slowly turns a darker shade of gray. The city doesn't feel the need to cut the heat or apologize. The revolution went on sale at nine a.m. today. And when the candles burn at dawn, and the lights have finally died, I knew that it was time to be summer satisfied. The city seems unreal and a thousand mile wide. And oh I want to be summer satisfied. Between the neon and the sky and a half-remembered song, I knew that it was time, I'd been away so long.
