Lyrics

Standing on that Mountain © 2011 Allen Glaser I was talking with this old man late one night at a bar We talked about everything but religion He said his dream home was a mountain off the Salt Lake It’s been so long I'm sure that he’s gone by now He had lines on his face and his smile tromped disgrace I wonder if he ever made it that far? He’d looked good standing on that mountain He wouldn’t have forgotten who was below him there He could of reached out towards the ocean With his other hand holding on to where he comes from We're either laughing or crying, living or dying. In chains or trying so start by being free She was 5 years old jumping up and down Just opened a present, a little pink guitar Her mother said you work hard you'll go far Years and years later she traded it for a fix. She's got scrapes on her face and her smile’s gone to disgrace I wonder why she never made it that far? She’d have looked good standing on that bright lit stage She wouldn’t have forgotten who was below her there She could have reached out towards the people With her other hand holding on to where she comes from We're either laughing or crying, living or dying, In chains or trying so start being free. He’s passed out for the last time in his life There's a bottle beside him and many, many in his past His little girl found him she's holding his hand, Saying a prayer, praying for one more gasp. Around here, miracles can happen All you have to do is have a little faith Open your eyes. He’s got blood on his face and his smile is there. She wonders how they ever got to this place They’d look good standing on that mountain They wouldn’t forget who's below them there They could reach out towards each other With their other hand holding on, holding on. We're either laughing or crying, living or dying, In chains we're trying to be free, so be free. They'd look good standing on that mountain.
