Description
This was originally part of a much larger work called “Symphony for a Woman”. I took this part and expanded it to make a single piece. It tries to capture the atmosphere of a smoke filled Jazz club somewhere just beyond the edge of time.
Lyrics
Don’t cry for me mama. Don’t you cry for me? I can’t understand why you’d want A lonely fool like me. But you know you’re the one, The one that shakes my tree. Play for me mama Won’t you play for me? You sing the blues so naturally They way it ought to be It makes me so sad I just want to die. Dance with me mama Won’t you dance with me? The way you move shows me They way you want to be. We’ll swing and sway And dance the night away Talk to me mama Won’t you talk to me? We’ll speak of life and dreams And all things in between We’ll laugh and cry Until the end of time Lie to me mama Won’t you lie to me? Tell me things I want to hear When you whisper in my ear. You make me feel so unreal In such a natural way. But don’t cry for me mama. Don’t you cry for me? I can’t understand why you’d want A lonely fool like me. But you know you’re the one, The one that shakes my tree
