"Shoutout to the D.J." evolved as an epiphany. "I have a friend who's a D.J. I chilled with him for a couple days and then I realized how important his job is. Music needs to be played and the DJs get it played." In my opinion, "Shoutout to the D.J." is more than a song that should be played on the radio. It is a club banger. The joint sounds like something that belongs in mainstream media blasting from car stereos, rocking at block parties, and breathing life into music television shows.
