Lyrics

Monkey ©2008 Tom Haney I always thought I'd go to heaven 'Till the time I turned about eleven When I read a book on evolution My soul began a revolution Educated on Devine Creation But that never brought much elation It's my opinion we should be so lucky To be 99 percent monkey But she tells me that Charles Darwin was wrong! Everybody's lookin for salvation Put the natives on a reservation Wipe their hands so no one bears witness It's just survival of the fittest Take the savageness out of the savage Forget about the earth and women ravaged Beat in their heads they should feel lucky To be captives of the smartest monkeys And she assures me Charles Darwin was wrong! But they expected something more For getting down on their knees Manipulation of the psyche I think I once saw Jesus wearing Nikes If everything's for sale what are we given? A life not even worth the living? Entertainment that's your morning news show Priorities right out the window They beat it in your head you should feel lucky That's education from the smartest monkeys But She assures me Charles Darwin was wrong! And as for Darwin, he sails on and on!
