I like that you chose to write something other than a love song and I really like the song musically -- it's more complex (both melodically and in its production & instrumentation) than much of the other stuff here. Unfortunately, this is all marred by a somewhat obvious and heavy-handed "message." Songs like this benefit greatly from a more subtle approach; either be more oblique an poetic in your lyrics or convey your message by telling a story.
