I was sitting on a couch in Nashville, TN and thinking about my childhood. Specifically, how when we were kids our parents used to tell us how dangerous strangers might be and that we shouldn't talk to them. Then I realized how maybe if I got over that and just talked to a girl, it might turn out to be really wonderful and not dangerous at all! So I wrote this song.
