Description
Named after a British warship that sank in the 1500s, this song is written about a failing relationship from the guy's point of view. Basically, the guy feels as though the girl ended the relationship in haste and that she was to blame, however, looking back, he sees that he really let her down in a time when she really needed him most and that she left because she couldn't bare to be hurt by him anymore. Personally, this song is lyrically one of my favorites.
Lyrics
Verse 1. I never would have expected For this to stand uncorrected The rough copy Slipped right past me And out the bedroom door I tried to sing that song All along But my own intervention never caught her attention Now the both of us are alone Chorus. She said: This boat’s sinking faster than the anchor and the water’s closing in of my neck I said: Don’t worry I’m the judge and Im the jury I’ll pull you out before your hair gets too wet But she know its too late for all the folklore telling how Ill turn all back around And she said: Im sorry for this party lasting so long and she let go of my hand as she drowned Verse 2. I know something aren’t meant to be But sometimes I think god hates me I said the prayer But he still doesnt care So how am I gonna believe We wanted to talk things over But we couldn’t keep our composure I stood to talk But she wanted to walk And we lost and chances of closure Chorus Bridge. She's drifting out to see And she blames me I think you're wrong I think you're late I'm Lying Chorus Last Chorus (Slightly different) She said: This boat’s sinking faster than the anchor and the water’s closing in of my neck I said: Don’t worry I’m the judge and Im the jury I’ll pull you out before your hair gets too wet She said: Okay boy I believe you cause I need you to help me get both my feet on the ground And I said: I'm sorry for this party lasting so long and I let go of her hand and she drowned
