Description

In 1988 I was encouraged to write a song about Vancouver, Clark County, the State of Washington, and the people in it; for the 1989 Washington State 1989 Cententennial Celebration. I did, and it was accepted as an Official Contribution to the 1989 Washington State Centennial.

Lyrics

100 Yeare Of Heaven (Clark County Centennial Style) Vancouver is a city in the State of Washington Clark County is the place I proudly tell them all I'm from We've got the cleanest rivers and we've got the greenest trees and that's why Clark County Washington's the only place for me. A patriotic homeboy it was here that I was born In old St. Josephs' Hospital one sunny August morn The first days of my life they say were really touch and go And the prayers of those sweet sisters saved me forty years ago. (Chorus I) Three cheers for Clark County Washington Where salmon and steelhead run And fishermen and loggers love to live and settle down With their wives and kids and families There's no place in the seven seas That even comes close to the heaven here that can be found. (Ride) There's a lot that can be said about this land that I call home The Pope would probably come here if he moved away from Rome So if you believe that God was satisfied with what He'd done You'll take pride in tellin' people 'bout Clark County Washington (Chorus II). Yeah good old Clark County Washington Where all kinds of people come To relax in the sunshine or to frolic in the snow Or get a job and realize There's more to life and livin' Oh there's no two ways about it it's the only place to go. (Chorus I) Three cheers for Clark County Washington Where salmon and steelhead run And fishermen and loggers love to live and settle down With their wives and kids and families There's no place in 'the seven seas That even comes close to the heaven here that can be found. Yes I was home-grown to the bone here in Clark County Washington. Whooh - HOME SWEET HOME Time: 3:17 Written By: H. E. Pearson, Jr. / A.K.A: MR.
