You Would Understand was written about an unrequited love and having enough self love to walk away from it and wait for something real. There are so many songs out there that are about how girls would do anything in the world to get The One they have their heart set on, no matter what part of themselves they lose over it. I wrote a song that empowers a girl to have self love and to walk away from a fairy-tale lie and be true to herself first and foremost.
