It begins by displaying the effects of human stubbornness, greed, and ignorance on our environment, and then moves on to the desire to fill the spiritual holes left void by evangelical religions. It goes on to describe the glory and shame of being born an American, and the necessity of occasionally digging up one's roots to keep life from becoming too stagnant.
