Description
"Girl Is It Me" is a country rock collaberation between songwriters Brian Whary and Hank Saggau. The lyrics were written by Brian who fell hard for the over-ambitious daughter of country singer Lou Wright, in who's band Brian played the drums in in the late-1980's. Hank wrote the music after reading the lyrics and was inspired to write from his experience with young love and one-sided relationships.
Lyrics
Verse 1 Every time I call you up on the telephone, It seems you're on your way out the door. Honey why can't you take the time to talk to me, I know my love can set you free. Verse 2. So slow down girl, you're moving way too fast, Are you afraid that love will hold you down, Well at that pace girl, how can anyone last, you'll grow old before your time is due. Chorus Girl is it Me. and do I see love when our eyes meet. Girl is it me, Am I the only one who believes in you and me. Girl is it me, Am I the one who's mistaken, Is it infatuation, or a dream, Girl is it me. Verse 3. You're much too pretty for life in the fast lane. I know you think you're only marking time. I don't wanna see you left alone and crying, When the one who loves you is still far behind. To Chorus and end.
