Lyrics

The Rudolph Blues Words and Music By David John Saffell Copyright 2010 This year break the rules and go to bed late (Way past 8) Leave his cookies in a puddle of milk At the bottom of the fire place Sometimes you got to stand up for what’s right And it might take you by surprise, who’s itchin’ for a fight Santa bought himself a brand new sleigh And it don’t need any reindeer to lead or light the way So at the bar with ole’ Jack Frost, drinkin’ eggnog and Smirnoff Poor Rudolph got laid off today Now if you hear a rumble on the roof (That’s proof) It’s got a jet pack on the back that’ll shake the shingles loose Kris Kringle laughs as Rudolph drowns the pain now this here deer he’s a friend of mine and I say it’s a shame That Santa bought himself a brand new sleigh And it don’t need any reindeer to lead or light the way So at the bar with old Jack Frost, drinkin’ eggnog and Smirnoff poor Rudolph got laid off today His nose might be a little red but he’s feelin’ blue (boo hoo) The elves stopped fillin’ up the shelves with toys, and the bells stopped ringin’ too No one even knows if snow will fall But we’re all trying to figure out did Saint Nick break the law? When Santa bought himself a brand new sleigh He layed off all the reindeer and he gave no severance pay So we sued his boss but Rudolph lost, the elves got fired, and the case got tossed That judge must have been paid off someway I say I’ve passed the bar, my name is Jack Frost, Attorney at Law and for my cost Rudolph’s got a big bill to pay But first off let’s stop off, for eggnog and Smirnoff Rudolph knows a good place around the way
