Country Trouble

Duration

4:07

Description

A song about growing up in small town southern America. From roaming wild and free outdoors as small children, to greater mischief as teenagers and young adults, you don't need much to have fun. Free from worries of the "real world", many people have fond memories of times past geting into good ole Country Trouble with their friends. It is my hope this song takes them back to that time, even if its just for a little while.

Lyrics

When I was young, I'd lay out in the yard Lookin up at the heavens, starin past the stars The night would pass so slowly The crickets my best friends Bullfrogs would sing, fireflies would blink Until the sun came round again When mornin would come, I'd wake up smellin bacon on the stove A quick bite to eat, then off to meet, the boys down dead end road Moon pies and dews, gravel in our shoes Thorns snaggin our hand me downs Pickin berries and fights, buildin bonds for life Talkin sex and leavin town Then it was hayfields to muddy river runoffs In our bare feet, no shirts just some cutoffs When the Lord made mischief, well hell He surely gave us double We were just young kids gettin into good ole country trouble Most Saturday nights we'd cruise round With used pickup trucks and lines Tryin em out on every girl in town At red lights and stop signs Then it was side by side in a 45, causin traffic jams Then it was small talk, in a parking lot Until the sun came round again Then it was dress shoes and shirts on Sunday mornins Bein late for church, issued speedin warnins We'd try to walk straight, but beer cans and keg stands Caused us to stumble We were just young kids gettin into good ole country trouble. Before we knew it life came around and hit us on top of the head When it's all too much I just close my eyes and think of all the fun we had Back in those hayfields to muddy river runoffs In our bare feet, no shirts, just some cutoffs Tryin to walk straight With beer cans and keg stands causin us to stumble Man it was something gettin into god ole country trouble I wish it was back then gettin into good ole country trouble We were just young kids gettin into good ole country trouble Copyright 2008
