Lyrics

The song was written with variable interpretive. Lots of intense searching and reflecting in this piece. A driving beat, innovative guitar tracks, and yes, :*) those are my intermittent "warrior cries/societal mourning" if you will. There are some traces of native American blood in me. Film Placement/Scoring Wise: It's wide open for CSI/Mystery/Detective Shows, IE-The cop/detective going home at night, frustrated and feeling helpless at not being able to "fix" and solve a case or some of societies woes. OR: The preacher not able to reach someone in time. The clueless parent not able to hear/reach their child. The firefighter or paramedic telling children not to look. The song is REFLECTIVE and asking painful, haunting questions of society. Do we close our eyes and run, not wanting to really know the truth? Does apathy set in from feeling so overwhelmed by the ills and crimes of society? We have terrorism. We have crime waves. We have all these crazy "shootings" taking place. Then we have all these conspiracies of how and why! We have danger and mystery all around us and is anybody really asking the right questions? Do we really want to confront the right answers? What's is real and not real? Yet we call ourselves a home of the brave and land of the free, and a Nation under God, but don't always want His advice maybe? We do know this: We have families breaking down. :*( Kids are raising themselves because of absent parents. This is a given. Many Mom's and Dad's are MIA. Is it always the parents fault though? Sometimes it is, if the parent(s) gets lazy and just keep popping out children and not training, nurturing and spending both quality and quantity time with them. Sometimes though, to be fair: The demands of making a living and paying/meeting all the demands that the world around them, keeps telling/inventing for them, stating they must "comply" and be that "responsible" citizen, and it's tough making ends meet, so both parents many times are forced into taking whatever employment they can. Some Mom's are working graveyard shifts. Some Dad's are on business trips. Some Kids are subsequently at home unsupervised and raised by radio and tv? (I am my brother and sister's keeper.) I hate seeing crime and evil scoring points in the land. Especially when it comes after our children. The tender warrior rises up in me to protect. VERSE: Close your eyes and run now wild/ To mom and daddy run now child/ Like little clouds that hide the sun/ Close your eyes and run/ VERSE: School gets out at morning bell/ Shut down by the gates of hell/ We couldn't stop a lonely child with guns/ Daddy why do we close our eyes and run/ CHORUS: Close your eyes and run We close our eyes and run (Mommy Daddy wake up why do all these men with all these guns say) Close your eyes and run/ Why do they tell us/ To close our eyes and run/ Close your eyes and run/ We close our eyes and run/ VERSE: If we pledge allegiance here/ If we're under God up there/ Why do we close our eyes and run/ VERSE: If we are the home of brave/ If we are the land of free/ Why do we close our eyes and run/ INSTRUMENTAL: BRIDGE: Mama's on the graveyard shift/ Daddy's on a business trip/ Was it daddy's work or mom's to blame/ Was it the blood and gore/ of their video games/ Was is it the dance trance music/ that their radios play/ Did we all learn in school that day/ That it's okay in school to pray/ For the little clouds that hide our sun/ So daddy why do we close our eyes and run/ Close your eyes and run/ We close our eyes and run/ Close your eyes and run/ We close our eyes/ You close your eyes/ Mama's on a graveyard shift/ We close our eyes/ Daddy's on a business trip/ We close our eyes/ Close your eyes now run
