Description
Song about a dear john letter I heard about while in Iraq! I brought a guitar and a 4 track recorder with me. I penned the lyrics while playing a chord progression then recorded the basic tracks, and added drums and lead guitar later. I played this with a band I started in Iraq in 2005 called the Sweater Kittenz, we recorded a CD and we continued to play after returning to the US for 2 years. We had a reunion in 2012 and played at the Hilton in New Bern, NC.
Lyrics
I left your smilin' face, thought you'ld aways be there. Looking so lovely with those ribbons in your hair. How was I supposed to know, you were gonna go. Now I stand here looking at this letter in my hand. I remember many happy days, if you would have asked me baby I'd surely change my ways. Now I have this letter and the memories o this place. I'd like to see you one more time, I'd wipe the smile right off your face. Guitar Solo Things don't always turn out like we plan. Life goes on and on and on and on and on. I know, that I can make it on my own. My life goes on with out you, on and on and on. yeah. I remember many happy days, if you would have asked me baby I would have changed my way. Well I burned that letter, erased my memory of you. Here I see you're calling me but your letter said we're through, we're through. I'm moving on!
