Lyrics

[Chorus] It's time to open up your heart and let the truth in It's time to open up your eyes and face the music come on (x4) It's time to open up your heart and let the truth in It's time to open up your eyes and face the music come on (x4) [Verse 1] Yeah, I'm back again I'm tryin to make a living off these tracks again I'm still lying on my back after the last time I was attacked again, I'm like: "That's when it all goes down" we all lose track and we all know how It all goes black when the lights go out and you can't get back when you lose that crowd On to the next one, up with the sun 15 minutes and you're out. Done. And, when you woke up you were tagged in a post on a Facebook feed and the moment is gone "Well, isn't that how dreams are made?" Snapshot these memories today If you wanna reminisce, we can freeze the frame but we still got fees to pay, man [Chorus] We won't be those people anymore We don't need no evil anymore [Verse 2] So that's it for ACT 1 the time goes fast, huh? now I gotta write rhymes as if each one was my only and last one and there ain't no rewind for that once you say something: nope! you can't get it back, son and I don't wanna be an old man, looking back at unused time, wishin' i had some So, laughs and good times: Have Some! Learn to forgive and forget: That's Love! And, if you live in these moments that come then there's more time for chasing your passions Hold my ego back, as if I had one I ain't gotta pretend like I'm a rap star I ain't gotta pretend like I'm a "Trap Star" and I'm a boss, and I stay "Tuckin' a Gat, Son!" I don't even believe in Hip-Hop But I can't stop making these beats and writing raps, Son I just gotta be me, and that's a fact and it shows in the way that I sing and how I act, son No apologies for the fact that I'm saved by Grace and I ain't going back runnin' that race, tearin' up that track and there ain't no time for the past, 'till the Act's done [CHORUS x2] [END] The song is about looking back at your life and hoping that you haven't wasted time playing it safe, making decisions, or just pursuing the wrong things in this life. As a musician, I find it very easy to get tangled in the worries of this world, as I try to maintain the appearance of a responsible adult and a man trying to take care of the family (as opposed to just another flaky musician). In a knee-jerk fashion, it's easy to simply give up on the mission that you started, or to put your dreams on the back burner when they don't turn out to be prosperous, the first time around. But, at the same time, its equally as difficult to bury the artist inside and put those dreams to death. As a result you are faced with the temptation of lifelong dissatisfaction and discontentment, OR you can choose to stay on the track that you started on, and try to figure it out. The moral of the story is: Ultimately we don't have time for regrets and dissatisfaction about the way our lives have turned out, because today is just another chapter in our stories and tomorrow isn't promised.
