Description
I was driving with Pete Tierney and Keith Pratt on the Hollywood Freeway, we were shopping for a drum set for Keith, when we passed this mural painted on a Freeway Pillar, of "Our Lady of Guadalupe". Pete said, "wow whoever painted that is a real pavement picasso".....2 years later I wrote the song. The artwork, done with spray cans, to this day(It's long since been painted over) stays with me.
Lyrics
Saw a picture plastered on a pillar of man made stone. A Mother/Child weeping, while the city sighs and groans. Artwork done in silence, while the City sleeps. As if to lay us down and pray our souls to keep. And in the darkness weeping, the King upon his throne. A requiem for the masses, and to lovers never known. But something makes them search out spots of virgin wall. Perhaps to leave a message, or just to say hello. And those about to enter, the land where nothing grows, find warmth in the artwork of a Pavement Picasso.
